Back in June we migrated the shapefiles available for download from the download page to the NC OneMap Geospatial Portal. Now, the same has been done for raster data - superseded (pre-2010) county imagery, 1993 and 1998 DOQQs, 1996 Landcover, and Digital Raster Graphics are now downloadable from the geoportal (in addition to the 2010 statewide imagery, which has always been there). This signals an end to the alphabetical data download page. No more A-to-Z lists!

As with any resource published to the Geospatial Portal, users can search by keyword or define an extent on the search map and search by their area of interest. In the results look for the download link underneath the narrative, like in this example:

Clicking Download will take you to the NC OneMap FTP site. In the FTP folder there is an index shapefile to use to help you determine which tiles you need.

We hope you enjoy this new, easier, and enhanced way to download imagery. As always, please let us know how we're doing and give us your feedback. Just leave a comment to this post or send us an email.

Re: Browsing ability lost on new NcOneMap GeoSpatial Portal?

I really liked the ability to browse - it looks like you can't browse in the new system. Browsing is good because it enables a user to just see all the data that is available.

Thanks!

Re: Superseded County Imagery Now Available from NC OneMap Geospatial Portal

This new way is no where near easier and I have spent hours trying to navigate through the site. Are the images we "receive" going to be geo-referenced and scaled properly?

Re: Superseded County Imagery Now Available from NC OneMap Geospatial Portal

We appreciate your feedback and will continue to evaluate further development efforts for accessing NC OneMap information. The image files that you are able to download from the Geospatial Portal for 2009 and earlier are the same source images that have always been available. The same is true for the new 2010 imagery. In fact, the 2010 image files that are downloadable are the exact files we use in the image service. So to answer your question, yes, the image files will be a turnkey product for you to use.

Re: Superseded County Imagery Now Available from NC OneMap Geospatial Portal

I agree with the post above. The new format is horrible, what pray tell is so horrible about an A to Z format for downloads?
